A Cold Winter Night and a Warm Drink
The first snow storm of 2012 has arrived in the beautiful southern state of Kentucky. Main Street in Keeneston is bare of its favorite citizens as they cuddle up on the couch to watch the snow blanketing the town. The Rose Sisters are making homemade hot chocolate to ward off the chill and to sip as they snuggle in for the night. So, light the fireplace, grab a book, and dig out your favorite mug for hot chocolate and lets join them!
Southern Living posted a new Gingerbread Cocoa Recipe this past month and I have been waiting for the perfect time to try it out. Tonight, with the snow falling, is the perfect time!

New Year, New Direction
2011 was a great year. That was the year that I began my writing career with the Bluegrass Series. I have reached far more readers in six months than I could have possibly imagined when I began this new journey. I have had the privilege of writing and sharing stories that I created. It really is amazing to hear from my readers that express genuine interest, and even the creative critiques of my books. I am ever so thankful to all of those who email me to discuss my books. Thank you!
2012 will be even better. I am embracing the year with even more enthusiasm! I will be releasing Cade’s story in Bluegrass Undercover, which starts the next stage of the Bluegrass Series by the end of winter. The next stage of the Bluegrass Series will focus on the five Davies brothers who are introduced in the first three books of the Bluegrass Series. Their storylines will not be tied to the previous three, but they will feature many characters that you and I fell in love with this past year. I am working to develop new characters to fit in, and stand apart from the existing cast. I want the same hometown feeling in these next five books. But I also want them to stand apart just a bit. I am truly excited about this new direction and hope that you will enjoy them during the New Year!
In 2012, I want to reach as many readers as possible. I have elected to not enroll in Amazon’s KDP plan that would make me exclusive to Amazon. Instead, I plan on continuing to embrace all the readers on Kindle, Nook, iBooks, Sony, Kobo, Smashwords, and any other retailer I can find! I also want to say a special thank you to those of you who took the time to write reviews or simply to rate my books, and more importantly, spread the word to your friends. I really appreciate it!
I hope you enjoy an incredible 2012!
Happy New Year,
Kathleen Brooks
